Made my heart happy

This morning, before we said family prayer, I took a moment to remind the kids what today is and we briefly talked about it. As I reminded the triplets, who were only 6 months at the time, the room became very solemn and some tears were shed. It was a very touching moment with my kids and I am grateful that in a world where everyone seems to have forgotten compassion that my kids have sympathy and love for those they don't know. I am grateful for the Gospel to help teach them those things because I would be so lost without it and without the help of many of the primary/sunday school teachers that help reinforce what they learn at home.
Our heart and prayers go out to those who lost loved ones 8 years ago today. GOD BLESS AMERCIA!

Amazing Angie Blad.

Wendi Fenton. I looked up to you in many ways.
We missed some of our other favorites at the party. I'm too scared to start naming for fear of missing some of you. We love you and are blessed for having the short time we had to get to know you. Come visit us in Utah!

Our quick trip to Nauvoo, Illinois

Being only 6 hours away, a trip to Nauvoo was a MUST before leaving Omaha. With only 2 1/2 day to do it in, we met my parents who had served a mission there a little over a year before and toured our little hearts out. Thank goodness mom and dad were there to show us around so we could see the "best parts" in the little time we had. We had a lot of fun and learned some interesting history.
Here we are outside of Carthage Jail.
My mom, Jenna and I standing at the window Joseph Smith fell out of when shot.

The bullet hole that went through the door and struck Hyrum Smith.

The temple is HUGE and beautiful. We didn't get to do a session...next time:-(.

It was fun to watch the kids catch fire flies. They loved Chase. Here he is with one on his face and one on his shirt.

The kids loved learning about how the kids learned in school back in the 1800's.

We checked out a realative (Nicholas Welch) who was one of the body guards for Joseph Smith's body when they went to bring it back.

Nauvoo has a special spirit about it and we all felt it. It was very rewarding as a family to see.

Singing with Aunt Karen

One thing we REALLY miss about Omaha is going over to Uncle Paul and Aunt Karen's house and listening to her play the harp or the piano and singing. It was alot of fun! The kids really miss them. We also miss Karen's good cooking:-).
